Le Glouton ou Carcajou ou Wolvérène est un animal solitaire et farouche. Il ressemble un peu à un petit ours pesant de 8 à 18 kg et ayant une queue velue. Sa fourrure est dense, ne retient pas l’eau et lui permet de résister aux grands froids. Ses longues griffes lui servent à grimper aux arbres et à creuser.
Le Glouton vit dans la Taïga et la Toundra d'Amérique du Nord et d'Eurasie. Il se nourrit de carcasses d'animaux. Comme il n'est pas très efficace à la chasse, il dévore souvent des animaux pris au piège. Le nom français Glouton fait référence à sa voracité.

The Glutton or Wolverine is a solitary and fierce animal. He looks a like a small bear weighing 8 to 18 kg and having a hairy tail. His fur is dense, does not retain water and allows him to withstand the cold. His long claws are used to climb trees and dig.
The Wolverine lives in the Taiga and Tundra of North America and Eurasia. He feeds on animal carcasses. Since he is not very efficient at hunting, he often devours animals trapped. The French name "Glouton" refers to his voracity.

Une partie de l'habitat naturel du Glouton a été détruite ou fragmentée en raison du développement urbain, des exploitations agricoles et des activités forestières.
La baisse des populations de Gloutons est aussi attribuable à la chasse, au piégeage. Le Carcajou est en danger de disparition dans tout l'Est du Canada.
